Companion Dog
Companion Dog class is a seven week course, one hour per week. This class is for dogs that are over five months old. Perfect for the Kindergarten graduate or a first time attendee. Some people might refer to this as a "basic" class. The goal of this class is to have aRipley is a graduate of The Right Paw 'good companion' upon graduation. A dog you can feel confident in when taking him anywhere. A dog that will be well behaved at your relatives, neighbors or just walking in the park.

As with all our classes, this class is limited to eight dogs per class. A group large enough to simulate a distractive environment, yet small enough so as to maximize on the individual attention.

Some of the subjects covered in this class are "sit, down, come, heel, wait, stay, walking without pulling, stand, greeting people appropriately,hand signals and more." The class will also touch upon tricks if the class is progressing well.

Again, this class is geared to teach you how to train your dog. After all, you are the one who lives with your pet.

Ripley is a graduate the Right PawOur techniques for training vary depending on your abilities and your dogs. There is no one way to train your dog. We focus on positive reinforcement (praise, rewards, food, toys etc.) along with properly timed, appropriate correction. The instructors have strong backgrounds and interests in behavior. The tools used here are a six foot cotton web or leather lead, a nylon slip collar (required-see registration form), possibly a gentle leader, treats, toys and an 'up attitude'.

Our goal as instructors is to show you how fun training can be! We'd like to spark an interest in you so you will want to do more with your dog. Perhaps advance into an intermediate class or even be the next shining star in competition classes!!

Important Information
Most of our classes fill three weeks before the starting date. Preregistration is required, along with proof of vaccinations. Vaccines that are required are a full distemper combination, a rabies, and an additional vaccine that's not routinely done by most vets, the kennel cough vaccine. (a photo copy of your receipt from your vet will do). In order to register, you must send a check to reserve your spot along with a copy of the appropriate vaccines.

Registration and Schedule
Check the class schedule page for up and coming classes. It is recommended that you download and print out the class registration form.. Registration forms can be filled out and sent to the Right Paw, along with the class fee of $175.00 and a copy of dog's vaccinations.

Refund policy: Refunds are given with at least a 24-hour notice of drop out prior to the first class. This is so that we can fill your spot in the class.
